Not really a hack. It's just as much work as following an official recipe
Unless you're making challah anyways and just save a little dough

Wrong cut for that in my humble opinion
You don't cook a rib roast until it's brown unless you like steak well done

Pizza dough. Chef John has a video about pizza dough donuts which I tried and it worked quite well. Basically just roll out the dough to about 1/2" thick, cut out pieces (shape is up to you, I did squares to not waste dough) and fry. Coat in granulated sugar, powdered sugar, cocoa, etc when they come out (they need the sugar or they won't be sweet because pizza dough...).
Correction: it's from LITK (called Sweet Zeppole), not FoodWishes

Try this: FLAVORED simple syrup. Make the simple syrup like I said (or you can use brown sugar for the simple syrup, as others suggested) and infuse with some cardamom pods, or vanilla, or add a few drops of any flavorful extract you like. Put some shredded coconut in with the sugar when making the syrup, then strain out the coconut. If flavor is what you're after, great. You can have it. I just think maple syrup is too good and too expensive to use the way you're using it. Maple syrup's flavor just doesn't come through enough in the drink to make it worth that.

I made the syrup from here:

https://www.laurainthekitchen.com/recipes/pumpkin-cold-brew-cold-foam/

Tastes great but doesn't have the same mouth feel as maple syrup

I've made just without eggs, add more oil/boiling water instead. Comes out flatter but still tastes good
