UA or Turkish to TLV?
« on: November 03, 2022, 05:44:31 PM »
The question is thus: Im in a quagmire. I can take UA from LAX to TLV via SFO, in Premium Economy for 2150$ (which will get me the regular amount of miles - base and PQP) or I can take Turkish in Biz class outbound and coach on the return for 2200$ which will get me 150% UA miles (2033$ if i dont want UA miles on the return). I would purchase with either Sapphire or UA Quest or UA Biz Mileage+. If i do Turkish I can't use UA miles to upgrade on the return but would have greater likelihood of empty seats next to me (and likely better food). If i go UA i can try to upgrade either leg to Biz using miles and co-pay (which i don't think is worth it) I just want the most bang for my buck in $, miles and points in the long run. Im a UA Silver. Ive never flown Turkish but have heard great things. Which direction do i go?

Turkish business is probably a better product than United premium, besides the mileage earning

There's no question that Turkish business is better than United premium. The question is whether it makes more sense to fly business lie flat OW and Coach OW versus premium both ways.

for sure Business on Turkish is better service but its only one way which i would get 100% UA miles for. The return in Turkish coach i would pay an additional $170 to get 50% UA miles (the lower fare class would generate 0 UA miles for that Turkish leg. The UA premium, kind of averages out the service on Turkish (great on one leg and coach on the other) which will do decent service both legs. Im trying to figure out the best way to get the most value for the $, miles (CC and actual miles) and CC points.
