Carry on baggage Questions
« on: January 13, 2012, 05:35:28 AM »
Traveling out on LX from TLV-JFK...if I am taking a small roll on suitcase as a carry on - will they let me take a suit in a suit bag as well?

Not at all a bulky suit bag, just one that the suit comes in when you buy it at the store...TIA

Didn't make me any problems the last time I flew with that situation.

the only times i saw elal make an issue, was back when i was a student in Israel, and i was on the flights at the end of the semester. I.e. Peasach, succos, beggining of the summer. And the flights are packed with bouchrim. They all are trying to pull their "shtick" so they are makpid on 1 carry on.

i was one of those bouchrim, and managed to get 2 suitcase 1weiging 65 lb, and my carry on 70 lb (all the heavy seforim, and shuirim ;) yeh right), and  2 big boxes of matzah.

the trick, leave ur hand luggage behind while you check in, that way it isnt weighed, and they don't know how many pcs you have.
if they stop u by the gate - the agent said i can take it.
when you get to the plane you send it underneath for free!

THIS WORKS EVERYTIME!

I have taken 3 carry ons for free many times!

good luck

+1.
ive done that a few times. some planes have a hanging rack in front that pilots and FA's use and many times theyve let me put it there.
or if ur not checking anything under than check in at home, print ur boarding pass and go straight to security. like this, ive taken more than 2 hand luggage (small suitcase, backpack, suitbag, teffilin if doesnt fit in suitcase and a food bag) and they dont really care at the gate. once they made me problems at secruity in london on a stopover - so i already had the bags from the previous flight - so i stuffed a bunch of stuff in the suitbag and then i only had 2 things officially!

but if ur flying on a small plane than theres gonna be no room so theyll put it under.

Elal also has a service in israel that 24 hrs. before the flight they'll come to your house to pick up your luggage. When you get to the airport you go straight to security.

Many reasons. If you have alot of luggage and or if you want to take a train to airport. You dont have to be there so early...

also they are not so strict on overweight bags, even if they are you can maneuver them around freely in your own home. i think its $100 for up to 6 passengers

I love carry on bags. I almost never have to pay for baggage because I can almost allways fit all my stuff in carry ons. My record for a carry on bag was 78 pounds :)

A 78 pound bag would be more like $225.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

i dont think the FA's care. i once flew for a few days somewhere and didnt want to pay $25 each way so i took a handbag, backpack, and suitbag. and it was a tiny aircraft, 11 rows. the FA saw me trying to get everything above and hes like, "howd u pull that off to bring all this stuff on the plane?" so i said i checked in at home and went straight to security!
