As someone who always wants the law to be upheld, "but officer" is never a good answer. As someone who is against discrimination of any kind, "but officer" asks a very important question.

You have the right to remain silent. Whatever you say will be taken as a pretzeled "but officer" excuse and might be used against you.

Does the "why" matter? If it's being done without care for the results and just to put pressure on related parties, or if the conclusion isn't used for justice but just to further an agenda, is it still in the interests of the American people?

Everything matters. First and foremost is it needs to be investigated. This is an American that was killed. Why would any American not what that investigated? If the party in charge has their own agenda, then expose them for that. Don't use that as an excuse to say there should be no investigation.

I don't see anyone saying there shouldn't be investigations into the American deaths overseas. I see people questioning why this and why now. It doesn't seem to be the standard, regardless of your argument that it should be.

If LEO were only pulling over black drivers going over the speed limit, the narrative would correctly be about profiling, not on LEO doing what they should be doing by enforcing the speed limit. The latter becomes irrelevant in the big picture, with discrimination rightly being the focus of the story.

i heard a story once of a successful supermarket owner who went to a Rav to ask him where's the best place to give the massive amounts of money he had to charity. The Rabbi responded that the biggest form of Tzedaka he could do is to lower the prices so poor people could save money and not be embarrassed about it.
