Depends on the connection needed. Hardwired/wireless/Ethernet. Read.

Any way to have to a monitor only for the video of the door? I know an echo works, but I don't want my kids playing with it.

My 2 cents: If wireless, Doorbell 2. If wired, Doorbell Pro.  For both of these, I don't think the latest version is worth the extra $$$ ... unless you highly value the added features.  As for monitor, there are a number of options: Echo show, a tablet, Fire TV ... there may be others.
