If you have an existing reservation you don't need to cancel and rebook to take advantage of the sale. If you log into the reservation and click change the system will bring up all the flights for that day including your original flight. It will then show all flights with a lower price or less points (depending on what you used). If you click your original flight it will rebate you the points or $$.
