European car sizes
« on: June 29, 2023, 02:56:34 PM »
I am traveling to Switzerland in August and I really some input as to what is best to rent. I will be 3 Adults and 2 Children with either 3 or 4 Suitcases. I can rent a big van but i rather something more comfortable and luxurious. Its hard to get info on some of the cars because they are European.
VW Sharan
Renault Grand Scenic
Volvo XC90 or BMW X5

I really would love some help and advice.

How are these any more comfortable than a Mercedes V class or Sprinter which is the standard for vans there?

The V class is a huge van and probably overkill for 3 adults and 2 children. But i am asking because i dont know. The V class is also much more expensive.

The XC90 is a spacious SUV and can have place for 4 cases in the back if the last row is down
Not sure about the X5

from the research i have been doing it seems that the X5 and the XC90 have very similar space in the back. the XC90 with the last row down and the X5 the way it is.

i was assuming that this would make the most sense for me but i figured someone has to know.

It's also a totally different passenger experience. I would guess most passengers would prefer a sprinter.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

That's the way I understood it too. Doesn't change the fact that there's only one person driving and passengers are generally more comfortable in a sprinter (unless seats are really bad).

It also depends how much driving you will be doing

European city roads are much much smaller that what you are used to in the US. You will have a lot of issues with navigating and parking in any European city with a behemoth.

Thank you,
