Data Retrieval (HELP)
« on: January 15, 2012, 06:12:29 PM »
Can ayone recommend a real god professional Data Retrieval for a Hard drive & a camera Flash Card ?
(www.ontrack.com doesn't seem to be very professional)
My Hard drive still has all the data but is to slow to run a backup (dies midway).
I also have a camera flash card that has been formatted & filled twice, but I really need some old photos which I've erased from my PC & restored to factory default since.

I prefer a professional company located in New York City but any other will do.

Try putting your HD in the fridge or even freezer, it might help to run longer before it dies.

Ice packs around it, is also an option

Name Changed has helped you with this kind of issue?

That might work, but you should wrap it to keep moisture out.

What did you find unprofessional about ontrack? They're one of the largest outfits in the business.

Are you prepared to pay serious money for a recovery service? These often don't come cheap. If it's really important and you will pay those fees, I would suggest not doing the home remedies. Depending on the nature of the problem, by running the drive further you run the risk of it getting worse and causing irreversible damage. I once made this mistake...

I have a neighbor in Monsey who has access to a clean room that can do some basic HD recovery. He's not cheap, but still cheaper than some of the big places. And totally honest and trustworthy.

i thought from his words it implied that he's a he:
I have a friend living in apartment near Yeshiva paying $975 a month for a 2 bedroom. I think he's nuts, but thats the area he wants to be in
and theres a few more psots around where he talks about yeshiva, which usually guys speak about more

but then again:
You never know  ;)

BTW, should you choose to go the other route (expensive, big company), DriveSavers just came recommended to me. This came from a tech at a very large company - that's where they send all their drives for recovery.
