And I'm still waiting for my car to drive me coast to coast while I nap and make me money as part of the robocar fleet.

If this isn’t hyperbole and they’re actually releasing a lot of source code, doesn’t that further reduce the barrier to entry for Twitter clones, who can now legally rip off Twitter’s code for their own platform?

I can't imagine code was the holdback for a different platform. And even if it was, now it'll be a lot of people spreading the competition thin keeping twitter on the top.

I don’t think Twitter source code is what makes Twitter unique. It’s the audience.

Would Amazon releasing source code of their recommendations engine risk Amazon clones?

Naturally. But there’s talk in some segments of Twitter about a mass exodus to another platform (some of which are already being set up by former employees for instance), wouldn’t this give them one more leg up? (Granted it’s still an uphill battle, starting at 0 can’t compare to the long way Twitter has come to dominate its market).

they only released the recommendation algorithm, but code is about writing logic which everyone can technically copy like truth social tried to pull off, but how is it going by  truth?
