It was rhetorical. The answer is no also. You may be right that bad doughnuts have a bigger dropoff when they're not fresh than good ones, but the gap is really big no matter what.

Yes, the dough is good, but the sheer chutzpah of selling a $5 "Lemon Meringue" donut that has no meringue and has canned lemon pie filling boggles my mind.

On the contrary! The cheap donuts have a shelf life, because they come pre-packaged and by law need a sell by date. Which is March of the following year, at least on the ones in Osher Ad. Someone got us a box but DW was grossed out by the sell date and we just gave em away sealed. A good move IMHO.
