Am I entitled for compensation?

I had an American Airlines flight operated by Royal Air Maroc from Casablanca to Washington D.C. I was involuntarily denied boarding by Royal Air Maroc due to oversold seats and put on a RAM flight at the same time the next day. They put us up in a hotel for the night and gave me a letter that I was denied boarding.

Few questions:

1. Do I speak to AA or RAM for compensation?
2. If I do speak to AA am I eligible for compensation? AA rules seem to say that I'm eligible for up to $1550, but DOT seems to say that international flights are not covered.
3. Has anyone had this experience with RAM before? They gave me an email address to reach out to, but the agent at the check-in made it sound like it was hit or miss on how much we would get.

I am almost sure that you are not eligible for anything. Nothing hurts to write a nice email explaining the troubles you had to go through as a result and asking if they can make it up to you in light of the otherwise pleasant experience you had with them.

International IDB over 4 hours is 400% cash payment of the one-way fare, limited to $1,550 compensation.

Montreal convention doesn’t cover that, EU261 and DOT comp doesn’t apply to itinerary. Although one might be able to sue if it resulted in other loses, but I’m not a lawyer

If he emails AA I would assume they would compensate him regardless, as long as he requests it nicely.

My friend was scheduled to fly UA from TLV to Chicago they ended up diverting to EWR for "crew change", which resulted in him missing his connection from Chicago to Montreal, at the end he arrived home 8 hours later than scheduled

I asked UA for compensation recently. They basically told me that my mother was a hamster and my father smelt of elderberries, and my claim is therefore denied, and I'm welcome to sue if I have an issue with that. Most claims I've submitted recently for myself or others have been approved though. They're hit or miss.
