So it seems like America is getting a taste of Israeli politics.

Kevin McCarthy just lost his third round of votes to be speaker. He got 202 votes, with 20 Republicans voting for Jim Jorden. (Interestingly, Jorden himself voted for McCarthy.)

He needs 218 to win. It's a question now if they keep voting or if they adjourn. They need 218 votes to adjourn.

Meanwhile, the Dems nominated Jeffries, who keeps getting 212 votes, less than the 218 needed to win.

Can we talk about how McCarthy's 'I earned this job' comment is a perfect encapsulation of what people have against him? What exactly did he do to earn the job?

He's headed in the wrong direction. The first two times he lost 19 Republican votes.

The cynical take on it is that he knows that if he doesn't show full support for McCarthy now, then those who are pro-McCarthy will not vote for him even if McCarthy gives up.

We have movement. This might be the best thing for the country. Hopefully these R nutcase holdouts get isolated. Too bad MTG isn't one of them.
