Can we talk about how McCarthy's 'I earned this job' comment is a perfect encapsulation of what people have against him? What exactly did he do to earn the job?
Kevin McCarthy just lost his third round of votes to be speaker. He got 202 votes, with 20 Republicans voting for Jim Jordan.
He's headed in the wrong direction. The first two times he lost 19 Republican votes.
(Interestingly, Jordan himself voted for McCarthy.)
He also nominated him in the second round.
The cynical take on it is that he knows that if he doesn't show full support for McCarthy now, then those who are pro-McCarthy will not vote for him even if McCarthy gives up.
