If your stove is not getting enough O2 from the air get out of the house NOW!!! 
The gas/air mixture determines the flame and is not dependent on if the stove is vented or not.

I grew up with Electric always hearing electric is old, expensive etc. and should really get "updated" with a gas oven.. are gas heaters , dryers next? Go back to electric? Do they not know how most electric is produced?
