I'm sorry if the welcome you got here was a little rough, but I'll try to soften it a bit and explain what and why.
DDF for the most part is a "kehilla" built on mutual trust. Trust that people are who they say they are, posts as opinions are honest customer views and not (paid) influencers and or self promotion.
DDF members are suspicious of posters who seem to be trying to take advantage of this trust and will be quick to point out - for the benifit of other members - when something seems not to be on the up and up.
I'd like to also make you aware of the forum rules which can be found at https://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=31.0.
The relevant rule that you should be aware of is: 4. No commercial advertising.
Though I have to say in my experience, in the past, no one has made an issue of someone answering anothers question with info directing them to their or a relatives business - as long as they added something like: Full disclosure - It's my business/he's a close friend/It's a relative. I have purchased insurance from agents active on the forums, rented cars... among other stuff. Theres even one member who wanted to advertise his business and was told that they dont take ads without a website, so he was allowed to go a few years posting the items he had for sale in a thread until his business was big enough to justifiy a website...
The point is trust.
When someone has zero posts aside from something pushing a business...

Anyway I hope that you can learn from the experience and become a valued member of the DDF
