booknookbiz answers the question about landscape printing books on demand, but the answer is a few years old, and possibly has changed.

You can't just change the binding edge?

Not that I can see, although I only looked over their options quickly.

What is the purpose of the book? Do you want to make it available for sale or is it personal? Hardcover or soft?  Shutterfly has that size.

Need it for personal, and would like to make it for sale. Shutterfly can do regular paper that can be written on?

He seems to be saying there can be landscape printing, but the largest width is still 8.5".

Not regular paper, but a bit thicker. I imagine it could be written on with a regular pen, but not about to try.  Shutterfly is not cheap and does not give ISBNs.

booknookbiz also mentions Ingram, as did another poster here. Did you look into that?  (From booknookbiz: "Your other option, of course, is go to Ingram and pay them their uploading fees, etc. and publish there and distribute here. As they charge for uploading AND for re-uploading, make sure that you get your files perfect, pre-uploading. Unlike Amazon, they don't support endless free revisions to published books/eBooks. At Ingram, if you make mistakes, you pay.")

How many pages will your book be?  From my understanding, Amazon won't do hardcover for fewer than 75 pages.  If your book will be less or were making it softcover, it might make sense to shrink it down to 8.5" wide.  Shutterfly will do hardcover for 20 pages.  No clue what Ingram would be.

Is there a good place to get a small quantity of books printed and bound with decent quality without braking the bank?

I use https://printoutlocal.com/

For a quote, send them an e-mail :  print at printoutlocal.com and specify quantity, # pages, and paper size
(6x9, 8.5x11, or 5.5x8.5)

Depending on your exact needs, why not Amazon KDP?

They don't do hard cover for small quantities.

I think it depends on the number of pages.

Do they allow right to left printing?
Do I have to list it publicly to print?

They do support right to left on soft cover.
To the best of my knowledge you need to list it publicly to print. You can order proof copies before it is listed but those are clearly marked not for sale. If you don't add the details of the book to the listing no one will ever find it. If your goal is just to avoid people buying it you can price it ridiculously high and order your copies as author copies.

Would it work to just reverse the order of all the pages including front and back cover?

It would, but I think Hebrew in general is only softcover.

They allow Yiddish LTR, any easy way to reverse the order?

I saw that and was wondering if it was referring to transliterated text or Hebrew characters.

Also, from
https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/GQSHRFWZ5CEY7XAC:
"When setting up your book in KDP, you’ll need to select the language in which your book is written. It is important that the language you select in the bookshelf, the language in which the book is written, and the language specified in your content file’s metadata do match. KDP currently supports over 45 languages. If your book includes multiple languages, select the primary language."

I ordered a copy with a flipped PDF (found a random online site). Not a great solution, it puts the barcode on the cover, and when opening the book the first page is also a barcode :-\
I remember hearing of some other site, anyone know the name?
