In today’s world shouldn’t the first thing the police do is look at surveillance video? Isn’t that standard procedure these days? Was that done before he was put in jail?

the guy clearly walks away from the kid after passing through the group, how in the world was this considered a crime?
btw, it allegedly took a very long time to convince this woman to stop pressing charges- can anyone explain where on the video there is a "kidnapping?"

Watch it again knowing that the mother is near the white door at the top, facing the camera. She is staring at her son the whole way through, mentions it to her friend, starts approaching him and goes through a bit of a struggle to grab him back, and he just walks away without explanation.

From her POV there is no question she is calling the cops.

Did the man touch the child without the mother's permission. YES
Did the man put his arm around the child and start walking him out without the mother's permission. YES
Did the mother have to grab the child from this man she did not know. YES
Did the man stop for a second to explain why he did what he did. NO

To me that's very understandable, and a strong proof for his version of events. From his point of view it was totally nothing, and he went on his way. If he had gotten defensive I'd be suspicious that he wasn't being honest.

Adults need to be way more cognizant and self aware how their actions are betrayed.

There were at least 3 men there that he could have asked. He definitely didn't do himself any favors

People have to know the year we live in and what is ok and what's not ok.

Maybe we need a list for people that don't realize, you can't be in a situation where someone can make an accusation...

Don't touch another persons kid. Period.

Don't be alone with another person's kid if it can be avoided. Even carpooling, driving a babysitter home, etc is dangerous territory these days if done alone.

If you see something that looks off 99% of the time it isn't really something extreme. No need to sound every siren, ask and find out and act after.
