Bidets
« on: February 06, 2023, 07:24:51 PM »
Feels somewhat embarrassing to open a thread on bidets :-\... I had a great one in in my Airbnb a few weeks ago in Hollywood and it's just absolutely amazing. Decided to be on the lookout, now Costco has two on sale. I wonder if there are any experienced users who can advise on what to look for and which one would be the better pick.

I'm doing rough plumbing now, should I pull a hot water line to the toilet?

No need, the bidet heats the water.

Dedicated freshwater line needed ?

Shabbos implications?

No, you connect it to the toilet water line. Problematic for Shabbos of course, I plan on unplugging it before Shabbos. The cheaper non fancy non electric ones are permissible for Shabbos.

So I guess a tank fed hot water bidet + amnon18 might allow you to use it for shabbos?...

So we do need a power line?

This might be useful to prevent accidental use on shabbos

Lol. It's all electric, all the features, remote etc. You sure need an outlet close by.

I've had a bidet since the toilet paper pandemic. IME hot/warm water is unnecessary - it's nice to have, but I find myself using cold/room temp water more often than warm.

I have this one and we're happy with it. So much so that after going on vacation to a place that didn't have a bidet, I've been contemplating getting a portable bidet.

This one draws warm water by connecting to the hot water line. That's only doable if you have the bathroom and vanity together and the sink is next to the toilet. Also, is it possible the reason for your not going for the warm water is because it anyways takes a while for the water to get warm with your setup versus the built in instant heaters?

I'm no plumber, but wouldn't putting in a dedicated hot water line result in scalding hot water?

Which one?

I'm no plumber, but wouldn't putting in a dedicated hot water line result in scalding hot water?

I understand that those are connected to both lines just like a faucet/shower.

Addicted to my cheap one I ordered 2 years ago. Officially connects to hot water as well but didn’t connect. Works great without

+1k

Liked it better than fancy ones. Heated water/seat is overrated and can make the whole bidet unusable on Shabbos
