That is correct , lab diamonds are created in a machine. You can't tell the machine to spit out the best color and clarity each time. It's how the carbon forms and reacts to a high temperature and high pressure , the same way it's formed in the earth.

They send it to get verified at gia or something similar and they send you a certificate with the info. Many high priced pieces will have a certificate
