Visit to Israel, passport expiration
« on: February 14, 2023, 05:35:46 AM »
Hello all,

Sorry this is old topic, but just want to be sure, since here there are so many people who go to Israel.

My conference in Tel Aviv is at the end of March (25-31 of March), but US passport expires on 24 of September (just one week less than 6 months).

Do you think I will have problems entering Israel? Will airline deny the boarding? I can get a new passport, but I'm afraid I cannot get it ontime (5-7  weeks for expedite service).

Thanks!

So, your link means I will be OK with my old passport? Sorry if it is obvious.

I just googled and there are so many reports that airlines deny boarding if the passport will expire in less than 6 months.

I know it sounds unbelievable in today's day and age, but about 32 years ago I flew JFK-CDG-TLV on PanAm using an expired Israeli passport (checked in about 30 minutes before the flight).
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

You can still fly to Israel with an expired Israeli passport

Correct. But will you be able to do it on a US (or European) airline with an aircraft change at CDG (and no other passport)?
