Senator Tim Scott entered the race.

From what I've seen of him in the past, I really think this guy is great, and would probably vote for him. But I think he has a real uphill battle when standing in between two strong personalities like Trump and DeSantis.

Don't get me wrong. I think Pence is a nice, honest guy, but he lacks charisma and doesn't stand a chance in the primaries IMHO.

I don't believe half the people running actually believe they'll win, there are plenty of reasons of running regardless, most importantly money.
Building super pacs with donations gets you tours around the country, fame, speaking events after etc...
seeing yourself on tv for some time, staying relevant.... Just look at Christie

Interesting thing about Christie.

David Wildstein, who runs the New Jersey Globe, used to be a Christie staffer. He was the one who came up with the whole Bridgegate plan, and he swears that Christie signed off on the whole thing despite Christie claiming not to know about it. Wildstein was charged and then testified against Christie, in a deal that helped him avoid any jail time. He hates Christie for throwing others under the bus, and until today can't stand him. (All Bridgegate related charges were later thrown out by the US Supreme Court, just FYI).

Wildstein's distain for Christie is often visible on his site. All the time, he puts out news pieces, "Christie still at 0 percent in New Hampshire," and the like. It's funny to see how he humorously pokes fun at Christie, and anyone who follows the site knows to expect some good fun from time to time.

As someone posted earlier today, being a candidate makes you relevant. Christie desperately needs something to keep him in the limelight, or he'll just be a big nothing.
