T-Mobile is dropping ability to auto pay with credit cards
« on: February 17, 2023, 12:57:18 AM »
Which means that unless you switch to a debit card (how many days breaches have they had recently?), you'll lose your auto pay discount. You can still pay with a credit card, but you lose the discount.

Such a money grab. They have a price guarantee and wont raise your rates, but will change the rules to save money at your expense.

Lots of people rely on CC autopay for the CC’s phone insurance benefits.

Can you link a debit card, pay with a CC or transfer funds to create a credit balance? Will it then pull from the credit balance first with the discount?
This is how their prepaid accounts work.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Why not just pay the bill in advance on card so the bill comes out to 0 each month?

My understanding is that you won't get the autopay discount then.

Isn't it based on the setting being applied?

Not sure as I have prepaid, and it looks like postpaid is different.

From what I'm reading on Reddit, some are planning on linking a debit card to get the auto-pay discount, but then planning on manually paying by CC before the due date. This way people can earn their points and get the phone insurance as well if their card offers that.

With all the data breaches T-Mobile has had though, I'm not sure about linking my bank account. I may need to figure out a single-use account or something. But this doesn't roll out until May, so I have time.

Disregard all these posts as it pertains to Verizon. I have several lines with T-Mobile/Verizon and can't keep them straight, sorry.
