I am looking at a United flight CUN-EWR on amex travel and it's $50 more on Amex Travel than united, shouldn't it be the same price?

Amex travel should match if it’s actually the same fare class you see on United. I would call

Make sure you get through to a real Amex Plat Travel rep. These days they all go to some Expedia clueless rep.

It may also be a point of sale issue, you can check EF for the available fare classes in multiple POS.

1) Amex Travel doesn't allow booking within 6 hours of a flight and need to speak to rep? (banner on site claimed and didn't see any flights less than 6 hours out...)

2) The chat rep told me you can't book points travel day of (maybe basic economy only?) and to instead pay on card and redeem points (at a ridiculous valuation rate)?

Not sure if the chat rep knew what they were talking about though... Curious if anyone can let me know or point to if this discussions been had before here?

i see american flights pricing much more on amextravel then by aa.com, e.g a domestic flight this sunday $426 on amex travel vs $314 on aa.com, any workarounds ?

Can be a huge pain changing an Amex booking with United. At times they asked for a $50 “reissue” fee, and even after that pricing came out more than the standard available prices.

done it tens of times online with no issues, best to choose a similar route...

most online ota's dont show flights within 6 hours, calling wont help

amex travel doesnt show basic economy. the specialized business plat travel team can book it by phone

at times when you have issues booking online, they will tell you to charge it on the card, and call in later to redeem the points at 1c value pp towards the charge

Anyone have any more info on this? I have AA as my preferred airline to get the 35% points back on my Platinum card, but it is almost worthless, as the Amex Travel prices are always significantly higher than aa.com. (This is for flights NYC-MIA).
