IDEA FOR MY WIFE'S 40TH BIRTHDAY

I am turning to the DDF for a good idea for my wife's 40th birthday. I ideally, it can be with just my own kids and her.
Seems like a friend party can also be done either separately or together. NJ based, so really NJ/NY/or maybe PA for the right idea.

Would love some thoughts, ideas, suggestions.
Also some "you better Do" and some "you better NOT do" suggestions.

Create a real life scavenger hunt where the whole family planned a day for her with her favorite spots but she has to figure out where to go based on clues you make with your kids for her to solve. End off with a gourmet homemade dinner prepared by you and the kids back at home. Maybe make a spa one of the stops and you can prepare dinner and the home while she's there.

Or you can do a cooking game depending on size of your group.
Basically a few sets of identical ingredients and whoever makes the best dish wins.
(maybe 2 teams - wife and some kids and husband and rest of kids (if some are adept enough at cooking to help you out) or if with extended family/friends a bunch of teams).
