That’s investors afraid to lose their equity, how does that affect these bank’s assets/liabilities?

You’ve never heard of Bank of Hawaii? IINM they used to issue the Hawaiian air CCs.

And I’m sure you’ve heard of First Republic Bank.

Zions is a well-known regional bank.
Metropolitan Bank has a Boro Park branch!
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

And it wouldn't stop there by any means.

This is simple ignorance. This is not a taxpayer liability but rather on those who pay for FDIC insurance which are the banks.
Claim what you want I don't think it is exactly optional for a bank to pay into this fund - I think most people in the us have to use a bank hence it is coming out of peoples pocket via the FDIC mandated fund.

I think the lesson to be learned from the story is that management shouldn't have to report every little thing going on.. this "transparency" mishegas is really to blame on this mess, coupled with social media hype and rumors..
what about the requirement to have a certain amount of liquid avail. wasn't that the reason they were forced to sell at a loss which caused all the panic? Maybe the govt  should've relaxed the liquid requirement...

Probably not.

Or better yet the holy land
Small people talk about other people.
Average people talk about things
BIG PEOPLE TALK ABOUT IDEAS.

it may not be optional but it’s not because it’s the law. Banks do not need to be fdic insured, they just won’t have any costumers  :D
