For breakfast today I ordered 2 Acai Bowls and 2 Avocado toasts from Jus by Julie in Miami. Both items had buy one get one free promotions, but the original price was over $50 making it eligible for the $30 off $50 coupon below.
That means the total is $30 minus a $30 discount, plus taxes and fees for a total of $9.14 shipped for $56 worth of food!
(Used Uber GC I got 20% off, so total was $7.31)
Did you tip off the $56 or the $9?
I wasn't ordering enough alcohol for the 50% off to become worthwhile, but I've done a bunch of $30 of $50 and $30 off $35 orders already for food and alcohol. This question is really applicable to all of the deals, not just the extreme scenario JJ had. I generally left it at one of the presets, which are based on the pre-discount total, but I've tweaked the tips to make sense for the situation.
One food order I had leave at door selected (big mistake, never select that option) and the guy left the food outside the wrong door (rd vs ave vs dr etc for my KGH people out there) and didn't pick up, so I put the tip to zero. I had to send my son to check the block before and after me where he found it.
I ordered 6 1.5L bottles of wine from one place, and they only had 2 left when they filled the order. The promo ended up taking off the full cost of the wine, and I just paid taxes/fees/tip. My original tip selection was based on the full order though, so I had to go in and change it to be based off the actual order.
Another place was literally down the block and I did 2 orders at once, so I lowered the tip below the presets.
