Only managed one order of alcohol before it shut me out. At least I have wine for the Seder.

Big win all around BH!

Someone said Uber won big too due to the cash influx in the wake of SVB. Hard to imagine this wasn't intentional being around for so long, I'd guess they were very happy with it too.
-0.5 for those who used discounted Uber gc's ;)

How does that make any sense. We paid $120 on a $200 order. I would have to assume that the merchant pays 30% fee to postmates?
$200 x .30 =$60. Meaning postmates needs to pay the merchant $140 while collecting $120 from me. How would that help cash influx?

(if i am understanding this correctly)

I'm with you- some people believe a price mistake etc is a big win for a merchant,  if they were a merchant I wonder if they would still say this..

I can be at times. Take Revel for example. The cars/mopeds are on the road and the drivers make a salary. They weighed the options, said codes will be valid for x amount of time. Had people try them and use them. Customer acquisition  was a $400 credit in the account that most of use did not use to the max..

I'm with you. I don't know how the cash exchange takes place. Or if Uber even had anything invested in SVB.

But it's hard to imagine this wasn't intentional.

I was at a store liquor store last night in Brooklyn (a site to see) and the owner told me it takes a week to get the money and that Grizzly was also involved. Seems like uber/postmates/grizzly are all the same.

There was a video put out by someone promoting this deal inside Wine by the Case in Crown Heights, and the way he was speaking, it sounded like the store was asking (paying?) him to publicize the deal.

If I had to guess, they upped the prices on the site from what they would usually charge (Isaac's Ram was $45 a bottle on postmates, IINM it's $35 in store usually).

Boozery was brilliant offering emailed gift cards. Other stores did it with just ordering rando items fwiu. Shows who can innovate and understand there is a one time opportunity to get in on.

They all do that

Yup, that's standard, I'm just thinking they did it even higher for this deal. The store wasn't available on postmates until yesterday afternoon.

Bun told me that they "lost money" on gift cards, after the Postmates cut

Well, I guess they didn't pay enough for JJ to get their name right.

As an aside, my wife placed a big mishloach manos order from them on Purim night at like 1:00 am. They called in the morning to confirm it wasn't a mistaken drunken order  ;D

They ought to work on their margins. Or their math.
Boozery and Patis were thrilled with the cash influx and new customer acquisitions.

Lost $ is relative... The issue is they cant mark up the gift cards on postmates.... So to be honest they shouldnt be offering them to begin with

But people locked in hundreds of dollars of spend at their store, I dont see how thats a loss
