Bun told me that they "lost money" on gift cards, after the Postmates cut
Would make sense. Most stores mark up their products on postmates, uber eats etc.. Take a $10 item in the store, on postmates it would be $12. Assuming postmates takes 30% that would leave the store with $9 vs $10. However once store gift cards come into play and the the customer is using it in store and the mecrchent hasn't marked up the items. They are selling $200 gift-cards for $140...

The store in Brooklyn told me he would rather people order now and get what you can get then be busy for months to come with gift-cards.

if you're only getting existing steady customers it might be a loss of potential revenue, though they may also order more or order higher margin items than they would have.
But otherwise, you should take the cash influx and work to try to convert the customers into customers for life, vs making them not want to shop with you again.

If postmates takes 30% on GCs then I would not list them on the site....

Got messages canceling every single one of my orders. ""is out of something you ordered"

I got orders delivered from them, know others that got as well.

Try calling the store to see if they can re-instate.

I think they were overwhelmed and couldn't fill all, and Postmates auto cancels if they're not filled in time.

Best bet is to go down to the store. They were very accommodating

In addition to people losing their gcs and/or never cashing them in.

Also have to figure out the float. It can take a year for consumers to redeem gift cards which is free float for the retailer until then.

They cost 17% higher than value, so savings is only about 39%

(I ordered $150 GC for $91.56)

Wish they had adjusted the gift card amounts instead of the total charge - ie $42 gift card for $50

I spoke with them yesterday about making more of their catering items available on Postmates and got nowhere. Can't imagine I'll accomplish more today

PSA: For those having issues with the payment issues, I had the same issue, after I got in five orders I was getting the payment error message. I just tried the option to pay with Paypal, and it worked!

Just got a few dp's of it working with Uber Cash as well. The accounts with errors can't do an Uber Cash refill via the app, but buying GCs via Amazon and then loading onto Uber worked like a charm (only tried it with full balance covered by Uber).

I had 3 orders delivered, and on the 4th they charged full price without applying the promo (yes, the promo was applied when I made the order. Unfortunately no screenshot.)

Tried chatting? My bil got $100 Uber Cash because one of his 50%/$100 promos were messed up.
