Is there a way to do this? Need help renting a car
« on: March 14, 2023, 03:09:20 PM »
Hi all,
I am looking to rent a car in the summer in the western US. I don't really care where/ which airport as I will be driving all over anyway, doent really matter where in the loop I start and end. Seems like the cost of rentals is truly off the rails, over 1k/ week in most places I am looking. So my question is like this:
When it comes to flights we can search multiple airports to multiple airports on multiple dates all in one search, and we can see it easily on a map. Like google flights, its great.
Is there any way to do something similar when searching for car rentals? I wish I could just put in dates and instantly see the rate for a mini van at every airport in the US on a map. Its exhausting searching 20 airports and changing dates etc just to see the price. One way, RT etc.
Please tell me there's some secret way to do this....?

Pay someone a couple of bucks on fiverr

Interesting concept.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Probably wrong thread, but send me some dates or a little more specifics.

Duration, type of car, etc

I wrote a VBA Macro (excel) that searches Kayak car rentals- the purpose of this is to search a large number of cities when pickup location is flexible.

Inputs are city (unlimited list- for quicker results I keep it to 100 at a time), pickup date, return date, and car type (choices are SMALL, MEDIUM, LARGE, SUV, VAN, PICKUPTRUCK, COMMERCIAL- this field can be left blank if any car type is fine).

For now it only works with the same return city. I'm hoping to find time to expand it to one way rentals as well, but if I do I'll need to limit the number of search cities to 10 or so, so that the results are returned in a readable format.

I plan to create something similar for when the pickup city is certain but the pickup/return dates are flexible.

If it would help you you can send me a list of cities, pickup/dropoff dates, and car size, and I'll run it.
