Vice grips have been very handy for me a bunch of times, I think it's great to have in a beginner collection.

If you're doing work on your car, there are specific tools that you may want to get, depending on your car. I had a Maxima - the engine took up a ton of space and left no room to maneuver. I ended buying tools that worked well in tight spaces. E.g., a set of ratcheting wrenches with heads that adjust 180°.
It's not something that I use for everyday, but super handy for car work.
Other super helpful tools for car work: a breaker bar, Milwaukee fuel torque wrench (easy on/off wheels)

Something that has been very useful for every day stuff is a set of Stanley screwdrivers. Probably 15, maybe 20? Ranging in size from tiny to huge (slotted and Phillips). The shaft is hex shaped, so you can use with a wrench for added torque.

There is guy project farm that does quality comparisons on literally every type of tool.

I've watched quite a bit, and have taken some of what I saw into consideration. I would say never skip to the end as his bottom line rankings might be based on different priorities. It is very important to keep in mind how YOU will use the tools. Not always is the most powerful, or even the most durable, the right choice for individual needs.

Also for more expensive tools consider company customer service reputation/experience.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I'll bite.

One of the considerations in my mind when I purchase tools, is to check the history of the company if it's a German brand. If it (or a predecessor entity) was around in the 1930s and 1940s, I won't buy unless I am ok with the history.

It was a lighthearted post.

The multi-tool I suggested would fit in this category. If you are not a regular DIY then the money would be better spent elsewhere.

I am fully aware. I am also aware of what day today is. I even know what it is for Irish people and what it is for Catholics.

Small people talk about other people.
Average people talk about things
BIG PEOPLE TALK ABOUT IDEAS.

We can continue the off topic stuff HERE.

As a "regular DIY" I never had a decent multi tool and never felt the need for one when I was home. If I have a bunch of real tools, why fiddle around with a Leatherman?

If you were following the flow of the conversation, you would know the multi tool I was talking about.  :)

My bad, I didn't look back.
Funny. I actually have one from Black & Decker (shhh).
I bought a 20v chuckless drill (screw fun or whatever they're called) ~10 years ago and used it sparingly. It started smoking and died suddenly last year. I called them and convinced me to send me a replacement.
Since the 10 year old model was no longer in stock, they send me this newer, rugged multi tool.

Not exactly tools but made by Snap-on. I received mine as a promotional gift many years ago. There are none better than these. If you can find them at a reasonable price grab all you can!!!
