Do we really need someone close to us to die to take action?
I'm with you CV. Can we start with these?:
1) The US has many more times gun deaths than any other civilized Western country.
2) The US has many more times freedom than many other civilized Western countries.
3) Guns are a staple of many people across many states. They grew up with 'em, have 'em, and love 'em.
4) The situation is a bit crazy that any Tom, Dick, and Harry can go nuts (we all do at some point...) and kill 10's of people in minutes.
5) Many gun owners are paranoid, (maybe rightfully so) that the government wants to take over and take their guns which can protect them from the government.
6) The Constitution protects gun rights for this very reason
7) Not everything (life w/o freedom) is worth living for
