Seems like they did the same to me as they did to Dan. They swithtched me over but when I got my cards they were regular Sapphire and not preferred.

i would like to know if any has definitive info as to whether or not the sign up bonus of 50k is avail again if i convert my SP to a WMC and re-apply for the SP??

Update:

Spoke to a csr today who explained that when I requested the change the original csr forget to mention that I wasn't eligible for the SP WMC. Apparently there is some sort of system of rules as to what product can be exchanged and for whom. Although I was able to be changed to WMC I couldn't get the SP, even now the csr couldn't upgrade the WMC to SP. In the meantime it was "escalated" and I should hear from them tomorrow

Sounds like a stupid excuse to me, I find it very unlikely that you should be ineligible for a SP WMC in one, if you are eligible for both SP and WMC separately

I applied for a Sapphire Preferred 3 weeks ago and was told that it was sent out 2 weeks ago so it seemed to have gotten lost in the mail. Once I am calling them to resend it, I have asked them to send me an MC instead of a visa, but so far I keep being told it can't be done unless I downgrade to a non preferred. Ill keep trying but does anyone know if they stopped switching them to MC? Also will I be able to pick up the 50k points on the MC or do I have to get those on the visa and then switch? Thanks

Was thinking of doing that (maybe even get a few points for the hassle as you did) but should I first spend the 3k for the 50k points on the visa?

I sent a SM to try and get the credit lines 'merged" from my Visa SP to my new MC SP, but they're not as dumb as I hoped, they went a removed the old Visa account from my Online Banking

that would never work as they clearly see it as a hybrid account currently in transition.

on that note, has anyone gone directly from sp visa to sp and?
from my conversation with a csr it sounded like the only way to convert is to first downgrade
