on that note, has anyone gone directly from sp visa to sp and?from my conversation with a csr it sounded like the only way to convert is to first downgrade
I just did it. I had the SP visa for about a month or two, then had it switched to the SP MC. Now i'm just waiting for my new SP visa to come in the mail.
Which new visa? You applied again for the 50k?
Yes. He no longer has the SP Visa, he has a SP MC.
finally got things sorted out and just got my wmc. Now I'm having a problem destroying my old visa card.
just slightly OT, can I use the CO OPP[wmc] card to cover the insurance in Israel, and do the actual charge on the SP w/o converting it to a wm, or they only cover if the charge was made on the same card ?
Congrats!
The co opp card albeit a wmc doesn't cover rentals in Israel
why really? is it a different wmc or it was to do with chase?
it has to do with chase foregoing wmc coverage in order to offer their premium primary coverage
thats weird, coz the SP is a visa card originally,so what do you mean by 'forgoing wmc coverage' ?
As Dan posted on dansdeals.com, you could convert your SP from a VS to a WMC with the most important benefit being CDW in Israel.I, like Dan, had the same experience with switching where they downgraded me from a SP to a regular Sapphire. When I originally called up to make the change, the CSR told me that he doesn't have the option to do it but he'll escalate it and I'll get a response in the mail. Sure enough, I noticed a couple days later that there was a new account listed in my Online banking and a today I received my Sapphire (not preferred) WMC in the mail. Being that Dan already mentioned that he realized they downgraded him, I immediately called up and told them to re-upgrade me to SP and make sure it remains a WMC and does not revert back to a VS. The CSR I spoke with this morning was very helpful and she told me it was a mistake and they would re-upgrade me and it would remain a WMC, and she also credited me 7,500 UR points for the inconvenience! What have been others' experiences with switching? Also, as mentioned above, the WMC offers CDW in Israel, but when I read the benefits guide that came with the card, it says: "Benefits may not apply in ..., ..., Israel, etc. Please check with your rental agency first", It doesn't say Israel is excluded, but that it might be, and from what people write about their experiences renting cars in Israel it seems like they usually make you pay for CDW, so if I was to check with the rental agency, as the T&C says I should, then I'm pretty sure they'll say it doesn't cover! So, how does this work? Is Israel covered or not?
can anyone confirm that they got the 50k (in their account) a 2cnd time from doing this , that's the most important thing
