$75, but I think they now also have a statement credit to offset that (seems that requires an SM) and you get the AF credited if you cancel within 30 days.
isnt canceling a card so soon after signing up bad for you credit? doesnt average length of account play a factor?
Unless you need the WMC for spending, go for the Hyatt. The (definite) Hyatt signup bonus is better than the longshot 50k on the SP WMC (which I highly doubt you'll get), ברי ושמא, ברי עדיף...
uh, uh, you're sayin good. say better

The account ages for ~10 years before falling off your CR, even if closed.

I applied for the mc sapphire got  it approved thru recon by closing my visa sapphire but was told that I will not get the bonus points being that I had the visa already. Any chance I will still get the points?

If you got approved for a new app/card, and the app had a signup bonus, you can expect to get that bonus when you fulfill the (spend) requirements.

Offer to close the WMC to get the SP approved?

I'm not (primarily) after the sign-up bonus, I wanted to have 2 SP, also I can't shut down the WMC as I bought electronics on it and I want to have the extra year warranty

maybe i am missing something, but what is the advantage of trying to apply for the MC SP when you still have the Visa SP versus cancelling the Visa and then trying to sign up for the MC SP. My Visa SP is coming up soon for renewal and Id rather not pay annual fee, cancel and try for the MC SP.

Leverage.

Many times they won't approve you for an additional cc bec
A) You have to many open cards
B) chase isn't willing to give you more credit.

So when you call recon (to get the new cc pushed through) and offer to close an existing cc and move over the CL, it takes care of both of those problems.

i dont see how this is really leverage. cancelling a card before applying for another also reduces the # of open cards and reduces my credit exposure with Chase. right now i have 3 chase personal cards including the visa sp. i have heard that anything more than 3 personal cards is pushin it with chase. is this true?

I as well as many others have more then 3 cards open with chase. As said many times if they don't want to extend more credit or you have to many open cards offer to transfer some credit or close a account.

I got my MC in the mail today.

Will the visa not work anymore once I activate the MC?

+1, yeah, it'll work, even if it is removed from your online profile.

It's like their inextricably linked.

Will having the Visa and MC linked prevent one from getting the bonus for their MC after the min spend?  Has anyone gotten the bonus again with linked accounts?

No one AFAIK has gotten the bonus again for spending 3K on a converted SP MC.

Many have gotten the bonus again for converting to MC and reapplying for SP Visa.

Ok thanks.  I guess then I have to call, have them cancel the Visa and then reapply for another Visa.
