The link on the DD site definitely works for a Mastercard.  At least it still did as of last week!

I was worried about what rcarentals said and about missing out on the United offer so I already 2bm with SW instead... Oh well... you think 30 days from now I can try the Sapphire MC and push it through using by closing my sapphire visa?

I'm almost certain I signed up for the MC card, but when I called up recon, they told me I applied for the Visa card, which I already have. I explained to them why I need the MC, and she gave me the shpiel about not having both at the same time. And she told me she couldn't approve me for the MC since I didn't apply for it.

Any advice? Any chance that they'll give me the MC even if I applied for the VS? Or just chalk it up to my not being prepared, and just apply again in my next AOR?

How long ago did you apply for the MC?

My MC link definitely works for the MC. Already confirmed with multiple people.

Sounds good... I wish I hadn't balked and instead went for SW card.. BTW for some reason they only pulled from Experian and it only had my Freedom card listed?!?!?! Very weird as I had them pull up my other chase accounts... On my United app they did another pull to transunion and then elevated it for reconsideration. The agent was pretty confidant they would approve it as my transunion report had all my cards listed. I didn't want another Transunion pull for the Southwest Card so I offered up part of my SP line. They told me it should be fine and she would just need to double check it (because again they said my report only had one Freedom card listed with only 3-4 months of history) and they would call me back. Been 4 hours now and I haven't heard from them. Should I call back and try again for the Southwest?

Just called Chase to get Sapphire MC was told that if you have Visa you have to wait a year to get the MC. I will HUCA.

Let me try another tack.

Can anyone give me a reason that I can use to convince them to close my current VS and open up a new one? Maybe the extension of the no annual fee, but that just sounds cheesy.

Any ideas?

I told them I am traveling to a country were MC is accepted and Visa is not.

To clarify. An argument why they should close the VS card and open a new VS card.

Maybe that's a little late to do, but could work to add someone as a joint and say you were told the only way to remove is to close and apply again solely under your name. But that's a process that takes time.

Thanks for the ingenuity, but as you said, it'll take time.
Out of curiosity, is that true?

Depends on which CSR you believe in...
Some say not possible, some say a hard pull, some say soft pull.
But they all seem to agree its impossible to move the credit limit from an account that has a joint acc holder, unless the (new) account you're transferring to is jointly holded by the same 2 persons. (something to take in mind before doing a favor for a friend who wants to build credit).

I have moved credit from a joint account ( not speaking of a A.U.) to an individual account ,only thing required was to have other joint holder get on phone a say they agree-- did with chase and citi
