Just got the fee on my visa. Suppose I just cancel it to get the AF refunded, and then apply on my next round of apps for the visa again? Seen a few people on here say you can re-apply for the CSPV pretty quickly after canceling and still get the bonus.

Data points recently, anyone?

Basically you can downgrade the SP to either a Freedom or regular sapphire and apply for new SP and offer to transfer CL when calling recon (if not approved right away).

Other option is to convert the SP into a MC (if it isnt already) and apply for the SP Visa and during recon transfer all CL from SPMC to SP Visa to open new Visa.
It's not about the quantity of your posts.  It's about the quality.

My wife called to downgrade her SP WMC to a non preferred.

The card just came and its a visa! Will she be able to get approved for the sp? She's in middle of a recon / downgrade cycle.
I remember when a coke was a nickel, and you could buy VRs in OD.

When you switch to A MasterCard do you still get your 7% bonus on all you spent previously on the visa?

Is there an optimal time to convert SP Visa to SP MC so as to ensure that upon conversion the AF will be waived for a year? Should I wait until the AF posts on my SP Visa before converting? Should I convert right before the AF posts? Or does it not matter at all?

The annual fee showed up on my account
i called up and the representative was telling me that since its the same account i will still incur the fee
i told her thats not what i was told
she went to go speak to her manager and confirmed that i was right.
so as of today, there is confirmation that you can switch from SP visa to SP mastercard

THAT you can switch from Visa to MC is confirmed (even after the scare posts by some). No news there.

Also, you can't really confirm that the fee was waived after the AF posts as a general rule, because you were told differently prior to the imposition of the fee, so you're case may be unique.

All that said, I believe there have been reports of the fee disappearing(?)/being removed(?) once it posts and the switch is done.

the CSR checked with her manager and she admitted she had been wrong, that in fact there should be no fee after switching from SP visa to SP mastercard

Or just do it right and it happens automatically.
