I don't believe so, how about downgrading to the non-preferred version?

I still have the sapphire mastercard, but it doenst have any special chip tech (or at least i dont think it does), will that be a problem in israel these days?

I just got a letter from Chase telling me they are cancelling the Sapphire Mastercard that I have and replacing it with a Sapphire Visa with a chip. They are getting rid of Mastercard. Will we be able to rent a car in Israel with the Sapphire Visa? Or should we use the United Plus card? I wonder why Chase is dropping Mastercard.

They've been changing over for sometime now, I believe the Sapphire Visa has the same coverages in Israel that the MC had.

Yes the visa covers rentals in Israel, I just got a letter of coverage emailed to me.
