Mostly less to new hires and being stingy with raises. Of course high quality employees are a different story.
Across all industries. Unless you’re a superstar you’re more likely to get cut when asking for a raise then get a raise.
Why would an employee get cut for asking for a raise?
There’s a real jobs crisis in the frum community currently which no one seems to want to address and it’ll only get worse.
Is this a jewish community problem, or simply the effect of a general slowdown in many industries? Not fun, but that's part of life.Or are you suggesting that there needs to be a more general, long-term change to people's career choices in our community? (Asking seriously, as an OOTer with limited knowledge of the NY/NJ job market.)
Historically, the frum community/businesses has not been able to provide jobs that are high paying. This has changed over the past 7 years of fat.
Not sure why everyone is so surprised. This is the back to normal that we need to get to so we have a healthy economy, low inflation, and where skill, ingenuity, and thrift are rewarded. Hats off to Jerome Powell for getting the job done!
Salaries were also way higher than in the general market for office jobs.
A niece who works in a pretty typical Lakewood company got a $10 sterns cheesecake for shavuos. Is Sterns the new Lilac and Creme in todays environment?
I think there should be a long term change, none of my friends in their 20's have any basic business education. They are all chasing the same low paying jobs with limited upside simply because they have no other options if they don't have a simple college degree let alone a graduate degree. I believe there has to be a push for the guys who are gonna be out of kollel after 2 or 3 years to acquire a skill that can make it more likely for them to provide a living wage no matter the market conditions. Yes but there is an added problem of our community being extremely concentrated in industries that are highly sensitive to interest rates.
Girls straight out of school with no training were getting 30+ an hour. Look at general job sites… nothing close to that for office work. Even now people looking to switch jobs are asking 45-50 an hour for 26 hour weeks.
Yet another person convicted for double closings. Did people not know that they were illegal?
Part of the same original story
I think only 1 of these deals was part of the original story. There are 2 other deals in this statement.
