Terrible anti-frum judge IMO. Gave him the maximum he was able to, against prosecutor's recomendation. Through him into jail without even telling the family goodbye for a first time offender white collar crime.

Same judge. Gave the son 24 months instead of the 5 year max and allowed him to surrender at a much later date.

If I knew, I wouldn't have asked. The main usage I'm familiar with is when someone is committed to a mental health facility. I've haven't heard it used when someone is sent to prison, but given the thread, that's a possibility. I've also seen it used in the context of suicide, but for obvious reasons, I'm not about to assume that about anyone ever unless it's clearly spelled out. If you're going to post news here, post it. BDE!  Terrible news.  I understand why this was posted under this thread but it still bothers me that it is here since it automatically makes one assume that the person did not do proper diligence in his business dealings.  Even people who are careful investors are at risk of losing money and we definitely have no idea what was behind this tragic situation occurring.
