IIRC it did say clearly in the terms, that after the date it will not be honoured. And I dont know if groupon Israel has the same rules anyway.

the expiration, according to groupon, is only on the savings, not on the actual money put in. that's the point of the post. i believe groupon israel is the same corporation, my email from them comes from "groupon" but my it would be way too much of a pain to surf their hebrew site trying to find if it has a similar wording

Like you said, assuming that these lawsuits are actually beneficial to the general public, you have to make it worth the lawyers' while or else they won't do it. Plus i'm sure a lot of time is wasted on this.

In the end I probably think that these suits don't benefit anyone but the lawyers and as such don't think we should make it worth their while, but if we do, the lower the number the better

We're talking a slightly incremental uptake. $8 instead of $5.
My real issue with this whole thing is that the lawyer is happy to settle for $15 million because he knows he gets $5 MM. while the plaintiff would likely not settle for that amount (mind you most of my opinions on the matter were formed from the grisham books I read ten years ago)

Sure. They settle then ask if you approve. If I don't approve I get nothing, otherwise I get $5.
They pay of the lead of the class to accept, in this case 2 grand
