Indeed, I used AI to save time. The tone of the writing is a bit cheesy, but the content of the post is indeed reflective of my experience. They really have been life changing.

I took my son to an allergist a few weeks ago. He tested positive for allergic reaction to all types of pollen (possibly with the exception of one) and dust mites. We started shots two weeks ago and look forward to relief. In the meantime he was prescribed Ryaltris which is non formulary and required pre authorization.  I'm not sure how we will manage the shots over the summer or Yomim Toivim.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

There might be an option that they will give you the vial with the required amounts, and have an EMT or nurse inject it. I've heard ppl do that for the summer.

Yeah I started shots as an adult so this hasn't been personally needed, but in all of the various allergy practices I've been a patient at they have a well-established protocol for sending the serum with college kids when they go off to school etc.

So I'll +1 what Flatbush said

Also, not sure how old your son is but you're doing him a big favor. I jokingly give my parents grief for letting me suffer through terrible allergies for my entire childhood.

My son is 15, and I really have no answer as to why we waited so long to start this. His allergy season runs throughout the year (except for maybe 1 or two months).

Do you need to pay a copay for every visit?

For the shots? It depends on the Dr. administering the shots. Some will only bill for the shot, and some will bill for a visit + shot.

I am currently on an HDHP so I do have co-insurance (deductible already done for the year). Obviously, for those on Medicaid or Essential Plan, there is no out-of-pocket.

IME, they will bill you for each shot visit but it's not a full co-pay. Instead it's billed at a lower cost as a nurse visit or something similar.

Different offices have different practices. Some will only bill for the shot (hence a low co-insurance $7.85 in my case) and some will also bill for a 15 minute office visit on top of that.

Agreed

I've been a patient at four different practices and none of them charged for an office visit on top of the shot (To be clear, I'm not disputing what you said, just sharing my personal experience). I probably would not be willing to patronize a doctor's office that was going to try and charge for an office visit copay on top of the shot cost every single time. that sounds like a scam to me.

Whoa it is so bad! Sneezing non-stop. Interestingly I never had it before this time of the year. Always have it early spring

Truth, except that it wouldn't be working at night before I went to sleep on a day with a later schedule. I was so sensitive then that it started to wane at the end of the effective time. If that was the middle of the night, while I was sleeping, it wouldn't be relevant.
I'm not sure I understand. Why does the 25 minute clock start the second you get up can't you be breathing in pollen when you sleep?

(Ask me to figure out what I meant when I wrote that a year ago...) The clock starts when you sneeze, not when you breath in pollen.

Anyway, I was about to bump this thread. Been miserable since Thursday, only got confirmation that I could use Dexamol Cold last night. Had the first good night's sleep since Thursday... If this stuff is a placebo, don't tell me.
