mostly a samsung s23 ultra with a polarizing add on and then some minor editing on flickr. mostly shot at a higher resolution. some from a dji minipro3. also used gradient lenses on the drone. that took some time to get right and still got it wrong on my last day there.

colors are all there, sometimes you just need to manipulate the light to find them.

edit, we were very fortunate to get lots of clear days. The weather in Scotland and Iceland was better than I could have ever imagined for our trip, and having good light makes a big difference in the colors the camera can capture.

glad you enjoyed it. we did, saw so much so fast I had to go back and write it down to try and remember it all. Since I can't take enough, I'll take a trip 3 times, once when researching/planning it, second doing it, third documenting it and preserving it in photobooks for each of the kids that went.

We should have had 10 nights minimum to do what we did in 8 nights in Iceland but happy to do what we were able to do. Thankfully still mobile enough to cover the ground we did with many 20k + step days.

There are many other pics and drone videos at the flickr album linked above. I usually try to limit my albums to 300 pics or so and make photo books for family but having a hard time cutting these back to that number. I still have around 6 hours of gopro video to go through so still adding before I have to start cutting. Need to invest some time/$ in video editing and music tracks to turn the raw stuff into something more presentable.

if you didn't see it, I also did a TR for Alaska June 2023. Had a much cheaper drone there. Will have the good one with me next year when we return.

the next am we woke to a heavy fog set in over the fjord. As we were leaving our BNB headed to the NW part of Iceland (bnb in Stykkishólmur), a cruise ship was working its way in through the heavy fog. By the time we were packed and ready to go, the fog had lifted. We left town and visited a museum that had preserved an old sod house.

When the second round of settlers came to Iceland, there was no lumber so they used sod to build structures. Lots of little rooms connected by hallways. Wood was taken down and re-used. Glass was the privilege of wealthy people. One wooden house had been taken apart and moved 4 times for the owner. Cheaper to do that than buy new wood.

Tips to remember, just because the road is on the map and 150 km shorter than the alternate does not mean that it is the best choice. unpaved portions of 54 made for some tedious driving in one of our only rain days. Stopped and waited for the rains to clear at Kirkjufell after a long day of driving
