What's an economical way to raise the car?
Jack stands & service ramps are quite expensive.

Are those ramps high enough to easily reach the cap and insert new filter?
I've used the ramps and they were high enough for me.

Although I overshot the ramp and got it stuck under my car. Lots of fun :)

I think part of the reason was that one ramp was sliding as I was going up and the other wasn't.

I've heard of someone using a curb as a makeshift ramp. I guess you'd have to make sure there's enough clearance and that you can get to the oil plug from the side

1 - How do people dispose of the oil?
2 - Do you change the oil drain plug gasket each time?

In NJ all auto parts stores are legally required to accept used oil.

Also make sure to lubricate the new filter gasket with some oil before putting it on

You mean like Auto Zone or even mechanics?

I was referring to stores. (That's what the person in advanced auto parts told me) it could be applicable to mechanics too. I'm not sure.
