Random Aviation News
« on: May 01, 2023, 11:11:41 PM »
A stolen Boeing 727 freighter escaping from Sudan, crammed with over 300 refugees and zero seats, overran the runway in South Sudan in bad weather earlier today.

Not a single injury reported.

Talk about a lucky group of people.

People really steal planes?

Definitely. Africa is littered with stolen and untraceable planes.

I don't get it, if everything is weighed except the passengers couldn't they just place the entire plane on a scale to get passenger weight?

Give it a couple of years until they are charging passengers per pound...

o Only allow a set body weight to be included in the ticket. Charge anyone who weighs more than, say, 150 lb. a $2 surcharge for every pound above the limit.

For the flight itself I imagine they could get an idea but having a scale that people walk over on their way into the plane.

There are already airlines doing this. Some ask for your weight, others ask you to step on a scale.
Cape Air
Southern Airways Express
Boutique Air
There's probably others.

Is anyone following Global Airlines? They purchased already 4 a380s, the founder James Asquith is flying around the world and has almost always negative reviews on the airlines, why would his airline be any better?

am not sure how he plans filling a380s without signing any codeshares
the whole thing sounded pretty strange to me
he is intentionally buying 380s

What were they thinking? Did they have any reason to believe they would make it on or not get arrested? Crazy what anger does to a person.
