same here, and i spoke to 3 different reps
But, I just went online to test it out and it said the cancellation fee for each passenger would be $10 (the taxes for the trip) and that the points would be returned to my account. It doesn't give you a choice it just says the fee to cancel is an amount equal to the taxes paid.
It's too bad I don't want to risk losing my outbound flight by cancelling and re-booking. And, now that I think about it, it would cost more to re-book it too since SAN-DFW-PHL is now 20,000 miles instead of 12.5k.
