Grand Canyon National Park (South Rim)
There are two trails from the south rim that go down into the canyon (and all the way to the canyon floor, which is a strenuous multi-day hike). You can experience a taste of it, by turning around at any point.
  • South Kaibab Trail - One of the top rated trails for the GC (trail descends into the canyon, uphill climb on return)
  • Bright Angel Trail - Also one of the top rated trails for GC (trail descends into the canyon, uphill climb on return)
There are also trails along the south rim (called Rim Trails) that don't descend into the canyon, and are relatively flat. These offer views of the canyon and are dotted with various scenic viewpoints. Some areas of the rim trail are paved others are not. These may be more suitable those with young children or those fear of hiking near the edge of the canyon cliffs. The National park shuttle buses also transport passengers to various points within the park, along the south rim.
A PDF map of grand canyon national park south rim is at https://www.nps.gov/grca/learn/news/upload/sr-pocket-map.pdf
Grand Canyon National Park Lodges

Nearby attractions outside the National Park include:
  • Skywalk
  • Bearizona Wildlife Park - Williams, AZ

Lake Powell (popular lake for boating, with kayak, motor boat, pontoon boat, houseboat rentals, Jetski, boat tours, and swimming). Lake and surrounding canyon walls are uniquely scenic together (it's actually a huge artificial reservoir surrounded by canyon walls, resulting from the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam

Pink Jeep tours on the red rocks. Worth every penny! Also there are  many nice hikes around the area, which take in the rocks.

If you don't have any kids and are adventures I would recommend renting ATV's as opposed to taking the Jeep tour

You did the whole drive round trip and a hike? How far did you go on the hike (how many miles)?
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.

It was 7.5 hours driving. We stopped at Sedona for about an hour. Did a hike for an hour total. Headed up to GC, got there late, around 2 IIRC, we managed to get to Cedar Ridge on the South Kaibab trail which according to Wikipedia is 1.5 miles away. Took us about 2 hours or more. We got out right before dusk which I think was at 5.

We got to see OOOOH AAHHHHHH Point on the way ;D :D :P

Didn't meet any rabbis. There was no minyan in the yeshiva because it was bein hazmanim. I am assuming that there's only one yeshiva.

Never heard of last chance. IIRC I was at a yellow building on 7th I think with a shul on the second floor I think. Next door to a grocery store or gas station or both. Make sense?

-1 You can ATV anywhere but Sedona is Pink Jeep tour, just as Colorado is skiing.

A jeep tour! It is just really cool how they go out onto the rocks. Best jeeping I ever did. We stayed in Sedona for a week and that was our favorite activity that we did there.

There is a water park in a natural setting I think it's called slide rock. I did not go but IIRC someone who was with us took her little kids there and was raving about it.
