Grand Canyon National Park (South Rim)
There are two trails from the south rim that go down into the canyon (and all the way to the canyon floor, which is a strenuous multi-day hike). You can experience a taste of it, by turning around at any point.
  • South Kaibab Trail - One of the top rated trails for the GC (trail descends into the canyon, uphill climb on return)
  • Bright Angel Trail - Also one of the top rated trails for GC (trail descends into the canyon, uphill climb on return)
There are also trails along the south rim (called Rim Trails) that don't descend into the canyon, and are relatively flat. These offer views of the canyon and are dotted with various scenic viewpoints. Some areas of the rim trail are paved others are not. These may be more suitable those with young children or those fear of hiking near the edge of the canyon cliffs. The National park shuttle buses also transport passengers to various points within the park, along the south rim.
A PDF map of grand canyon national park south rim is at https://www.nps.gov/grca/learn/news/upload/sr-pocket-map.pdf
Grand Canyon National Park Lodges

Nearby attractions outside the National Park include:
  • Skywalk
  • Bearizona Wildlife Park - Williams, AZ

Page AZ
Lake Powell (popular lake for boating, with kayak, motor boat, pontoon boat, houseboat rentals, Jetski, boat tours, and swimming). Lake and surrounding canyon walls are uniquely scenic together (it's actually a huge artificial reservoir surrounded by canyon walls, resulting from the construction of the Glen Canyon Dam

Horseshoe bend (popular scenic overlook of a 180 degree bend in the Colorado river)

Bump
There is a Fairfield Inn around the corner from Ahavath Torah in scottsdale
there are AirBNB choices and if you call someone in the community they can usually find a Kosher house to rent AirBNB style
(I did an AirBNB once and Rabbi Muroff mentioned that next time i should check with them if there is a Kosher option)

here's one https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/29801179?source_impression_id=p3_1609169812_KTQBHPhPcniVFByb&guests=1&adults=1#availability-calendar
Iv'e stayed there, its nice and clean

got rebranded.  It’s now a best western. They should have an Ahavas Torah rate that may save you a few dollars.

They had a great bartender as well.

LaBella has terrific specialty slices. Manhatan Pizza was serving impossible meat (did not personally try)

Do I have to give in my order at kitchen 18 before I go for shabbos, or they have enough to just come pick out on Friday what I want?

Hey fellas, my parents are planning a trip to PHX and GC on Chol Hamoed Pesach. Will there be K4P food available in any of the kosher markets in PHX or Scottsdale (obvs bonus for restaurants)?

These days it's much simpler with the add image button under the post. Basically does all those steps for you.

Average people talk about things
BIG PEOPLE TALK ABOUT IDEAS.

I'm due in at PHX at about 8:45 tonight, departing at 11:15. Any food options? I called LaBella but the kitchen closes at 8:30 and they close at 9:00 sharp. They offered to deliver to PHX for $20 but only if I'm curbside by 8:45, which I can't commit to. Any other options? Anyone local who can help me out?

Recent restaurant reviews?
Fleishigs - kitchen 18 is solid with large portions. Chinese is not as good as the American menu in my opinion.
613 grill is more Israeli, with some really solid poppers and good basic food. One man show.
La belle is worth a trip to Phoenix for. Great pizza and milchig dishes.
JCC has a great Cafe, had salads etc, which were good.

Kitchen 18 and 613 grill should both be able to accommodate. Both solid options

How bad is Scottsdale in June/July? I read it's usually over 100 degrees dry heat. Does that compare to 85 humid? Anyone visit in June/July and regret it?
