Grand Canyon National Park (South Rim)
There are two trails from the south rim that go down into the canyon (and all the way to the canyon floor, which is a strenuous multi-day hike). You can experience a taste of it, by turning around at any point.
  • South Kaibab Trail - One of the top rated trails for the GC (trail descends into the canyon, uphill climb on return)
  • Bright Angel Trail - Also one of the top rated trails for GC (trail descends into the canyon, uphill climb on return)
There are also trails along the south rim (called Rim Trails) that don't descend into the canyon, and are relatively flat. These offer views of the canyon and are dotted with various scenic viewpoints. Some areas of the rim trail are paved others are not. These may be more suitable those with young children or those fear of hiking near the edge of the canyon cliffs. The National park shuttle buses also transport passengers to various points within the park, along the south rim.
A PDF map of grand canyon national park south rim is at https://www.nps.gov/grca/learn/news/upload/sr-pocket-map.pdf

Kitchen 18 which was so good

I forgot to take a photo of this Burger
I got this one from Google of their SW Burger.

If you get it listen to me carefully.
SOUTHWEST BURGER
Ranch & Spicy Sauce.
I think it was their Spicy chili sauce It was so spicy that I couldn't handle more than a spoon on my burger.
It was so good and apropos South West I told them they need to only serve it that way.
Hopefully they listened.
update they didn’t.

Any hotels (like residence inn) with a suite/kitchenette within walking distance of shuls?
A summer shabbos with kids in a hotel room can feel pretty long (though the eruv is a plus)

we rented a Airbnb in Scottsdale in august for 2 weeks, first time in Arizona, we would like to get to see grand canyon and other interesting sites, we are not big hikers, and i am having a hard time figuring out how to structure the trip, if there is anyone with experience, if it pays to make the GC as a overnight, or if i can do it in 1 day driving, where i should go in GC upon arriving and what other places driving distances i shouldn't miss, i would greatly appreciate input.

if you don't mind a bunch of hours in the car it can be done in one day, if you're going to look, and not hike. We did a similar trip, spent a late afternoon and a morning, and slept over. (Holiday Inn)
bear in mind -  temps will be in the 110-120 degree range. no humidity, and not as bad as it sounds, but hot.

Even if you're not a big hiker, it is worth staying for sunset, which can be (but isn't guaranteed to be) absolutely stunning.  So unless you want to drive back at night, definitely spend the night.

If you consider the Grand Canyon to be a day trip, other day trips can include: Saguaro NP, Petrified Forest NP and Meteor Crater, other NPS sites, Sedona sites and Pink Jeep, etc.  Also check the trip reports in the wiki.

We were there a couple weeks ago. We stayed over in Sedona and the next morning drove to the GC. We were with a baby and did a bit of hiking/walking. We drove back to Scottsdale that night, which was a drive, but very doable…  You will likely want a few hours at the GC as every viewpoint has different views.

FYI- here’s how we spent our day there: started at Mathers Point. Then drove to Angels Point where we parked and took the shuttle bus to Mohave Point. From there we hiked back to Powell Point.
After the hike we took the shuttle back to our car and drove back in to Phoenix. Was absolutely beautiful!
