Wildfires in Canada felt in NYC

At first it was strange but cool and now it's a bit freaky. I was wondering why the sun looked like an eclipse yesterday morning I was able to literally look directly at it at about 7 AM. Last night there was a very noticeable smell of fire, this morning I was still able to look at the sun but the smell has gone down somewhat unless I'm just used to it.

I don't recall something like this in the past. My kids school has cancelled outdoor play today due to poor air quality  :-\

Toronto seems better today than it was yesterday. Doesn't smell like smoke right now.

No -they are just cancelling outdoor activities.

Guess the thought it better to have the kids exposed to asbestos vs particulate from the wildfires.
