Understanding Ticket Classes with El Al
« on: June 25, 2023, 05:40:00 PM »
I can't find a link anywhere online. How can I get documentation of the difference between classes in Economy? I see class U, class H and class S. What are the differences? Reserving seats? Ticket changes? Luggage? I could not get a clear understanding from the rep and can't find anything online

Actual fare class is almost irrelevant with their (NDC) model for most destinations (excluding North America)
Any class you book still needs to be assigned as lite classic or flex based 9n what ancillary purchases are being linked to the ticket

From North America all classes include free seats and baggage but only flex allows "space" seats

My mistake. Should have pointed out that the flight is from NYC to TLV, and back

You will need to ask someone who actually flies with them but I believe extra legroom and exit row

If I remember correctly
When booking on elal website to North America you can't select flex(refundable) vs classic
Rather it just shows 1 economy fare which is whatever bucket is available
(Would appreciate if someone who actually books with LY can confirm this or if there is a way to specify refundable/changeable economy to North America)

I called and asked. They claim that class H is the lowest fare, but that you can still select seats and change flights. No penalty but you pay difference in to fare available. Trouble is, I am flying with family and kids. Most seats seem to be blocked out with nothing really together. So the offer to book seats is more a gimmick. Won't be much available till they free up what open 24 hours before. I can't do that with kids though.

Elal does not have NDC (yet)

Correct
But the idea of the 3 classes unrelated to fare class was developed as an ndc tool
