I know I'm extremely late to the game but couldn't finalize plans until now. Are there any reasonably priced flights left from NYC to one of the cities with totality? Dallas is like $600 one way

I've seen some flights in the $200 range for OW but nothing sensible schedule-wise or RT-wise. I gave up on flying to Texas.

You can get cheaper flights if you want to make a longer trip out of it and go before Shabbos but that's not very ideal IMO.

For anyone who will be in Dallas for the eclipse, this looks like a great program to add a Torah perspective to the whole experience. For some reason I haven't seen it advertised anywhere, but I'm friends with one of the organizers who sent me this flyer.

I see flights also available to Detroit for a reasonable price but it's on Spirit... and would still have to drive several hours to Cleveland.

Or fly to BUF and stay on the US side of the border. Niagara Falls (Canada) is planning for as many as a million people, which would be the most people that have ever been there at any time. Not sure I'd want to be in that crowd.

Closer to an hour and a half, and probably longer on that day. Yes.

If you're willing to only get a shorter period of totality by being in the path of totality but near the edge, there are places as close as a half hour from YYZ (Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, and anything southeast of that) that are in the path of totality.

That's what I'm doing. Took a OW rental YYZ>SWF. As it seems crowds in Niagara will be insane, I'll probably start driving back to NY in the morning and stop somewhere along the way. This way I have some flexibility in case of cloudy skies.

Good idea. I would not want to be in the line to cross back into the US after the eclipse. Wouldn’t be surprised if it takes hours.

Was looking into doing Niagara Falls and eclipse with my older kids and shoot two birds at once, but after seeing the cash prices for hotels, although I was able to snag a decent awards redemption for a fallsview room, I realized what an immense crowd of millions will show up and decided against. There are better times to see NF and wouldn't drive just for the eclipse.
